Karl Coutinho, MD

A New Jersey native, Dr. Karl Coutinho completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and Economics at New York University and received his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School in 2010.
Dr. Coutinho completed his Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Urology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. His military experience compelled him to complete a fellowship in genitourinary trauma and reconstruction at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and University Hospitals in Cleveland. Dr. Coutinho received additional training in genitourinary prosthetics and reconstruction through courses at Perito Urology in Miami, and as a visiting fellow at the Kulkarni Endosurgery Institute in Pune, India.
Dr. Coutinho has served continuously in the military since 2003, first as an Infantry officer and now a qualified flight surgeon. He is currently a Major and serves as the State Flight Surgeon for the New Jersey Army National Guard.

Dr. Coutinho has numerous publications and presentations at national conferences in the fields of urologic reconstruction, pediatric urology, kidney transplant, military medicine, and genitourinary prosthetics.
